Bubble Refill Station Pinterest Insprired DIY

There are so many great ideas on that site. I personally compare it to getting a brand new magazine every day. Recipes, fashion, DIY projects, neat new products and so much more. I have been Pinning for a while now and have noticed my DIY boards are overflowing. I need to start doing what I Pin.
I think I have traced back the original Pin or idea to a blog called Come Togther Kids. Simply brilliant.

Bubble Refill Station

One thing you should know about me is that I am NOT a DIY-er. When I saw this I knew I could do it. I also knew that my two girls would love this. I love that they have access to the bubbles themselves and it is relatively mess free.

Here are supplies I used for this relatively cheap project. I have included prices so you can see how doable this is.

Bubble refill supplies

Supplies Required:
Jug $5.00 ($10 at Walmart but I found some on facebook on a local moms sell/trade board)
Liquid Dawn $1.99
Corn Syrup $1.99
Stickers for scrapbooking $1.25

There are two popular recipes for the bubbles. I chose the one with corn syrup. The corn syrup is intended to make the bubbles stronger and float longer. There is a side effect I did not think about .... bugs. So I think I will go with the glycerin recipe next time. I found glycerine at Bulk Barn.

Here are the two recipes from Come Together Kids:

DIY Bubble Recipe #1

2 1/2 cups water

1/2 cup corn syrup

1/2 cup Dawn dishwashing liquid

Put water and corn syrup in a bowl and microwave for 3-4 minutes. Stir to combine. Gently mix in dishwashing liquid.

I quadrupled this recipe to fill the jug.

DIY Bubble Recipe #2

(this one is my favorite of the two, mostly because I did not like the idea of corn syrup in the bubbles.  Sticky hair and ant food!!)

1 gallon hot water

1/4 cup glycerin (available in many pharmacies and craft stores)

1 cup Dawn dishwashing liquid

Gently mix all ingredients together. Seems to work best if you allow it to sit overnight in an open container before using for the first time.

So there it is!! My first DIY from Pinterest!  Do what you Pin people! Now on to the next one. Let me know if you tried this and how it worked out for you.

  4. this is really good and way cheaper than buying bubbles, I've seen those on pinterst but all I could think about was how expensive it would be to fill lol I didn't think homemade bubbles would work very well, but we will have to try these recipes.
