Gananoque Getaway!

My husband planned a one night getaway for the two of us (sans kiddos). It was the first time we have been away together in 5+ years. The call was made to gramma to babysit and plans were firmed up.

I have been mentioning how I love Bed & Breakfasts to hubby. Well he was listening because he booked us a night at the Victoria Rose Inn in Gananoque, Ontario.

The Victoria Rose Inn did a magnificent job of duplicating the quaintness of the traditional Bed & Breakfast(minus the homeowner in bunny slippers and a robe cooking breakfast -- true story). Upon arriving at the INN we were greeted by a friendly staff member who welcomed us and told us all the INN had to offer.

There is also the added convenience of ensuites in all rooms.... meaning no shared washrooms... bonus over the conventional B&B! Our ensuite had a jetted two person tub. The tub was in the tower you see there in the picture. It was wonderful.

Hubby had made a reservation at a fantastic restaurant called The Ivy (more about that later!). Upon our return to the INN, fresh chocolate chip cookies were waiting on a chest of drawers at the base of the stairs. A nice treat before bed.

Breakfast was included with our room. When we headed down to the veranda for breakfast we were pleasantly surprised with a carafe of coffee waiting for us at the base of the staircase on the same chest of drawers that presented us with fresh chocolate chip cookies the night before. We had a leisurely cup of coffee in the main room. When we headed to the veranda we were greeted and seated quickly. We were told to enjoy the breakfast buffet then when we were ready our main dish would be served. The breakfast buffet was a plate FULL of an assortment of fresh fruit, cereals, granola, coffee cake and yogurts. When the main plate was served we were delighted! A ham and cheese frittatta with a side of fresh picked tomatoes and home baked bread was presented to us. Another fresh carafe of coffee was left at our table. I must have that "I really need coffee" look in the morning.

Upon leaving we handed in our keys over grudgingly. We headed out and noticed to-go cups of coffee on that same chest of drawers. I started calling it the magical chest of drawers! It always has what you needed!

The perfect over night getaway. I would not change a thing!  Thanks hubs.

    1. Oh you should! So much more relaxing than a hotel... totally disconnected for 24 hours. Not even a TV in our room. Ahhhhh.

  10. I would love to stay somewhere like this! I have never stayed in a bed and breakfast but would love to when traveling one day. They look so much for comfy and welcoming than your typical hotel.

  12. This bed and breakfast sounds so lovely, and that tub... oh goodness, I could live in that tub. I kind of like that the homeowner was in bunny slippers and a robe cooking breakfast, it gives this charming house even more character, and if there is one thing I love about anything, it's character. I'm so glad that you and your husband were able to get away for a night and have a great time together without the kiddos.
