In Marlow and the Monster, Marlow has a monster, whether he likes it or not. And guess what? He doesn't! What will Marlow do about this very pesky monster that keeps getting him into trouble? At his wits end, Marlow decides that the only prudent thing to do is to pawn the monster off on his little sister, Sarah, who eventually helps him see his monster in a very different light.

The book starts with an intrusive little monster that moves into Marlows room. The monster is bothersome and makes trouble for Marlow. Marlow enlists the help of his younger sister to deal with this monster. I really loved the twist at the end of this book (no spoilers).
Illustrations are beautifully done and caught both of my daughters attention immediately. The story and pictures are both by the talented Sharon Cramer.
rThe very first page of the book caught my daughters attention and peaked their interest of the story! What a great thing to be able to read the same story to both my kids. I have a nine year old and a five year old. This is a fun book that this momma will love reading over and over again to my kiddos.
I asked my nine year old daughter to read the book and let me know what she thought. She said she loved it and asked if we could keep it (a sure sign she loves it). She told me what she thought the moral of the story was and she got it right away (again no spoilers). My oldest daughter went on to read the book to her younger sister. Proud momma moment!
The books that get a prestigious spot in our family library has to be entertaining, stay fun after 1000 reads, and have great illustrations. Happy to say that the family has welcomed Marlow and the Monster to our library. I know your family will love it just as much!

When I was young (a mighty long time ago...) my favorite story or rather stories were from the Little House on the Prairie series. I also loved the show as well.
