A friend posted an earring holder and organizer that she made with inspiration coming from Pinterest. I loved it so much that I wanted to feature it here on Shannon's View from Here. I asked her and she agreed! Here is a quick tutorial on how to make an easy earring organizer by my friend Jessica! I tried to narrow down the original pin and was unsuccessful. Here is the photo that inspired Jessica.
I found this idea while browsing Pinterest and thought I definitely needed to make this earring organizer. I have so many earrings and truthfully they were very unorganized. Matching pairs were never easy to find especially while getting ready in the morning. I am not a crafty person. DIY pins are typically not my thing.
But I looked over this pin and thought I can make this.
It’s simple, useful and I could make it for under $5.00. I decided why not give it a shot. I went to the dollar store where I remembered seeing some small 4-drawer storage units and foam. I ended up finding two sizes of the storage units but decided on the smaller one to start. Then I found some glittery foam in the craft aisle and decided to purchase that foam instead to make it unique. (Total Cost=$ 3.00+tx)
I got home and started right away because I was so excited to try this DIY and finally get my earrings organized. I grabbed my new storage unit, the foam, and scissors then sat down. I found out that when you open the drawer you can pinch the back two sides and remove the drawer from the unit ( This made it a lot easier for putting the foam in). I cut the foam to the appropriate size for the drawer and placed the foam into the bottom of the drawer. I repeated this for the remaining drawers. Then I slid the drawers back into the unit and began organizing.
It was a very simple DIY and I am so glad I can find earrings that match with no hassle now!
TIPS: Remember not to get foam that is too thin (remember the posts of the earrings need to fit into the foam to hold them in place)
I wouldn’t glue the foam in place because if you’re putting dangling earrings in, it makes it difficult to hook the earring through the foam.

Very good idea! I like that you are able to see the earrings clearly, instead of them just laying flat in a jewelry box! Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! I have no way of organizing my earrings right now and they are still in jewelry boxes that are stacked in my closet. Not the best situation. I should definitely give this organizer a try, especially since it can be made for under $5. That is awesome!
